As a major market player in Malaysia, this is undoubtedly a significant boost to EV market penetration in the country. It is hoped that the price range will be affordable for the middle-class income group. The pressing question now is whether the current infrastructure is sufficient to accommodate this mass market once the product is launched. The Westports Malaysia 2 Expansion ProjectProject Goal: Double the capacity of Westports from 14 million TEUs to 28 million TEUs.Government Support: The Ministry of Transport fully supports the project and a new concession agreement has been approved.Investment: Billions of ringgit will be invested by Westports to build new terminals (CT10-CT17).Benefits: Increased port handling capacity, improved competitiveness for Port Klang, creation of 6,000 new jobs, and enhanced standard of living in surrounding areas.Project Phases: The expansion will be completed in phases, with CT10-CT13 being developed first (between 2024 and 2038).

Reflecting on Our Journey with the Singapore Battery Consortium:Back in September 2022, HIOKI had our initial meeting with the Singapore Battery Consortium (SBC) to explore a shared vision: creating an ASEAN battery event that would foster a strong ecosystem and bring together key players in the battery industry. After months of dedicated effort, our dream became a reality with the inaugural ASEAN Battery and Electric Vehicle Technology Conference, held in Bali, Indonesia, in May 2023, together with the support from Thailand Energy Storage Technology Association (TESTA) and National Center for Sustainable Transportation Technology (NCSTT) from Indonesia. Fast forward to today, it’s inspiring to see how that vision has evolved into the ASEAN Battery Technology Conference (ABTC), now supported by six battery and EV-related associations. Together, we are making ASEAN stronger in the global battery landscape.Excited to continue this journey and see where our collective efforts take us! Today marks a milestone day in SA - 100 days without load-shedding! So, what's driving this success?I don’t have the inside track, but according to this interview with Mteto Nyati, Eskom Board Chairperson, the reasons given for Eskom's success include:✅Discipline - doing things on time.✅Data - looking at all data and acting on it, immediately.✅Leadership - shaping the desired behaviours and practicesAnd my favourite…✅Defining the right problem - the problem was not an ageing fleet that needed to be shut down and replaced. The problem was the reliability of the fleet which required fixing and maintenance.This Eskom case study reminds me that it is more interesting and often more useful to study success than to study failure. Sure, learning from failure is important. But it's mostly overrated. What do you learn from failure? How not to do something. So what? That doesn't tell you how you SHOULD DO stuff. Learning from success gives you real insights and behaviours to repeat what worked well previously and to do it better the next time.I've put the link to the interview in the comments section. Last year marked the beginning of our breakthrough in Western European ports. Here in this article is one of the first examples. We shipped our five biggest DR models, DR-2000x1040-P8, to the port of Rotterdam (pictured in the article).Both Surikat and Visy mentioned in the article are our customers.
